Alumni Club Board Accepting Applications for Communications Chair and Finance Chair

Take a leadership role to support and strengthen the professional network among local alumni and organize career development initiatives.

Communications Chair Description

 

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the UChicago Alumni Club of Washington, D.C.’s online community (UCCO)
  • Manage content on the Club’s website
  • Upload alumni events information
  • Upload photos and informational documents
  • Post monthly note that promotes local alumni
  • Follow up on inquiries submitted via the website
  • Manage content on the Club’s Facebook page 
  • Update page to reflect and promote upcoming events
  • Promote the Club by posting and sharing information
  • Assist Program Chair in managing event related website content
  • Maintain data and other information to help the Club serve local alumni
  • Work with Alumni Relations and other local alumni leaders to help identify and welcome new alumni to the DC area
  • Process and maintain captured data
  • Organize and share club communications on volunteer materials, board minutes, and other resources on Google Docs
  • Serve as a member of the Club’s Board of Directors

 

Finance Chair Description

  • Oversee the management and reporting of the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Washington, DC’s finances
  • Maintain the Club’s current financial account
  • Provide general financial transaction oversight
  • Serve as primary contact for requests to access account holdings 
  • Inform the President of funding requests and coordinate approval through the Board of Directors
  • Develop an annual budget 
  • Oversee the development of the Club's financial policies
  • Generate additional funding within the boundaries established by the Alumni Club Volunteer Handbook and the Office of Alumni Relations
  • Coordinate financial assistance from Alumni Relations for Club programming and general activities
  • Keep the Board of Directors regularly informed of key financial events 
  • Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee  
  • Serve as a member of the Club’s Board of Directors 

Qualifications
• All alumni of the University of Chicago, including alumni of the college and of all graduate schools and departments, who are located in the metropolitan Washington, DC area are eligible for consideration of this position.

Term of Office
• The term of office shall be not more than two years, commencing on September 1, 2015.
• The Finance and Communication Chairs may not serve more than two terms in office.

Election of the Communications Chair and Finance Chair
• All eligible alumni who complete a Candidate Information Form no later than July 12, 2015 will be considered candidates for the position(s) they applied to.
• The Alumni Club Board of Directors will elect the new Chairs by majority vote of those members present at its August meeting.
• Election of the new Chairs will become effective on September 1, 2015.
