Alumni square dance Meet-up
Join the alumni club at the Great American Square Dance Revival in Columbia Heights, featuring live bluegrass and folk music!
Alumni will meet up at a classic monthly Columbia Heights activity: the Great American Square Dance Revival, featuring live bluegrass/folk music. No experience or dance partner needed — the dance caller will walk us through the steps! This is a meet-up at a larger, public event held by the DC Square Dance Collective and Folklore Society of Greater Washington. Family and friends are welcome.
There's always a great mix of people — young and old, square dance enthusiasts and total beginners, people who just love live music, and people who are looking for a fun activity before going out on Saturday night! The atmosphere is casual and you can always choose to join in on a dance or sit one out.
Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Alumni will gather at 8:15 p.m. at the pews at the side of the main room of St. Stephen (look for a small UChicago sign), and dancing and music last from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Stay for as long as you like!
This event is BYOB — attendees may bring snacks, water, alcohol, or other refreshments if they wish. There is no dress code, but please wear light shoes that are comfortable to jump around in.
St. Stephen and the Incarnation is walkable from the Columbia Heights Metro stop on the yellow/green lines and does not have onsite parking. Attendees are encouraged to use public transport or a rideshare app to avoid a long search for parking.
Come work up a sweat after Thanksgiving and experience the joys of square dancing. More information about the Great American Square Dance Revival here.
