Volunteer opportunity for stem professionals in dc
AAAS seeks STEM professionals to assist K–12 teachers in the DC metro area during the 2019–2020 school year.
We wanted to alert our alumni community to an exciting opportunity for those who work in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and have an interest in helping local students!
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks STEM professionals to assist K–12 teachers in the DC metro area during the 2019–2020 school year. For 15 years, the STEM Volunteer Program has placed scientists, engineers and mathematicians in schools. Over 250 classrooms in nine school districts participated in school year 2018–2019. Details of the collaboration are worked out between the teacher and the volunteer and may involve giving demonstrations, assisting in lab experiments, lecturing on special topics, assisting with homework, etc. Hours are flexible. Volunteers attend a one-day orientation session before being assigned to schools.
